SAFE USE OF PESTICIDES

In the UK it is a legal requirement for those who undertake the spraying of professional pesticides to hold a recognised pesticides certificate of competence, otherwise known as a pesticide license.

Since 1985 it has been a legal requirement of the FOOD and ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION ACT, that any persons applying chemicals to control pests, weeds or diseases must have a Certificate of Competence issued by City and Guilds Land based Services (NPTC), if they were born after 31st December 1964, or provide any form of contractual service, or supervise those not holding a certificate.

Littlefield Manor Training run training courses monthly covering;

  • PA1.Safe Use of Pesticides. One day of training £90+ vat NPTC assessment £60 plus registration fee of £55

  • PA6. Hand Held Applicators Two days for all novice operators £180+ vat NPTC assessment £110 plus registration fee of £55

In addition PA2. Horizontal boom sprayer can be arranged to suit demand; also PA4 slug pelleting. Pesticide refresher courses can be arranged for existing certificate holders.

The centre has a large selection of hand held equipment, two boom sprayers and all necessary PPE. This is available for the training and for the assessments that follow.
